🛂 The Compliance Passport: Your Yearly Requirements

Every year in GP training, you need to keep your Compliance Passport up to date or risk getting stuck at ARCP.

This article explains exactly what the Compliance Passport is, what goes in it, and how to complete it painlessly each year in ST1, ST2, and ST3.

💡 Check this closely - missing documents can delay progression. So let’s make sure yours is sorted.

📁 What is the Compliance Passport?

You’ll find the Compliance Passport near the bottom of your FourteenFish portfolio homepage, just below the CEPS section.

It’s where you upload evidence of all the mandatory annual training required for GP registrars. You must keep this updated every single year of training.

Here’s what it includes:

Form R & COVID Declaration

Basic Life Support (CPR & AED)

Safeguarding Children Level 3 (and log a relevant CCR each year)

Safeguarding Adults Level 3 (and log a relevant CCR each year)

Safeguarding Adults: 12-monthly update

Safeguarding Children: 12-monthly update

Let’s walk through each one. 👇

📝 Form R Declaration

Each year, you’ll need to complete:

  • Form R – summarises your placements, absences, declarations, and any complaints or incidents from the year. It must be completed ahead of your ARCP. You’ll usually receive an email with a one-week window during which you need to submit it.

❤️ Basic Life Support (CPR & AED)

You must attend an in-person CPR & AED course in each year of your registrar training.

✅ The rules:

  • Must be a face-to-face session (the RCGP states that online-only is not acceptable).
  • Should be delivered by a Resuscitation Council-approved provider or equivalent.
  • Must include both adult and paediatric CPR/AED

💡 Top Tip: Your certificate should clearly mention both adult and paediatric CPR and AED competence. If this is not included, discuss with your TPD; you’ll probably need to add a note in your log to confirm the course included it or provide separate evidence.

🛡️ Safeguarding: Adults & Children (Level 3)

You’ll need two separate certificates:
🔹 Safeguarding Children Level 3
🔹 Safeguarding Adults Level 3
And these need to meet some very specific requirements. Let’s break it down. 👇

✅ What you need each year:

  • Valid Level 3 Certificate (Adults & Children)

    • Must clearly state "Level 3"
    • Must be in date throughout the full year
    • Must be valid beyond your CCT date in ST3

💡 Tip: You’ll usually complete Level 3 Safeguarding Adults & Children training during your ST1 GP placement, often via an online platform like Bluestream Academy. Check in with your practice manager or safeguarding lead early in the placement to get this arranged.

  • Annual Knowledge Update (if certificate >12 months old)

    • It is also mandatory to demonstrate evidence that you are keeping your safeguarding knowledge up to date.
    • This can be done via an e-learning platform such as e-learning for healthcare.
    • You’ll need one for adults and one for children
  • Two Clinical Case Reviews per year

    • One child safeguarding case
    • One adult safeguarding case
    • Must demonstrate how you applied safeguarding knowledge in clinical practice

💡 Tip: Write these as reflective entries tagged for "safeguarding" and link them to your Compliance Passport.

✅ Compliance Passport Checklist (Each Year)

Here’s a quick checklist for what you need to upload and link to your Compliance Passport every year:

  • ✅ Form R (Part B)
  • ✅ CPR & AED certificate (within last 12 months, includes adult & paeds)
  • ✅ Safeguarding Children Level 3 (in date)
  • ✅ Safeguarding Adults Level 3 (in date)
  • ✅ Annual safeguarding knowledge updates (ST2 & ST3)
  • ✅ One safeguarding reflection (child)
  • ✅ One safeguarding reflection (adult)
